Farm Retail Association Finalists

We are delighted to announce we are one of four finalists across the country for 'The Small Farm Shop Award' from the Farm Retail Association 2022.

Samantha and Diana will be attending and participating in the 'Stronger Together 2022' three-day conference in Newcastle on 28th February. They will be sharing ideas, hearing inspiring speakers, and seeing great examples of farm retailing. The conference shall enable them to visit other farm retail businesses and bring back ideas and new knowledge to further improve our farm and farm shop.

Following the nomination we had a formal visit before Christmas 2021 where both Michael (Owner) and Samantha (Shop Manager) were interviewed as part of the selection for the shortlisted farm shop. Samantha said "We are honoured to be chosen, there are so many amazing farm shops across the country. We rely on our local community and customers to keep on supporting us year on year. It has been a challenging time with the Covid-19 pandemic, we have had to change and adapt the way we work. As a result of doing collections and deliveries in 2019 we have set up a website which enables customers for pre-order and either come to the shop or have a local delivery."

"We are committed to growing the best Asparagus as we can, all of our own soft fruits and seasonal produce. We are very fortunate to grow our own produce down the road! We want customers to be able to buy only what they need, to reduce food packaging and waste. We signed up to 'Too Good To Go' which is a step in the right direction. We try and stock as many local suppliers as possible, from bakery, meat and dairy, chocolate and drinks. We are fortunate enough to have many talented individuals and businesses on our doorstep and customers who value the ability to 'shop local'

The Chairman of the Farm Retail Association, Rob Copley said 'This could be our toughest awards yet, the calibre of entries is so high, this will certainly be a difficult one to judge. Good luck to all our finalists, we look forward to an exciting ceremony!" The Retail Farm Association Awards have many sponsors including specialist retailer COOK and Field Fare, which we stock in our farm shop.
